the kasturi is a musk-deer of India, playmate of krishna, a shy and retiring woodland creature of charm, rarely sighted. kasturi is a source of fragrance used in perfume and incense.

this Kasturi lives in Berkeley with her partner Girish, which means 'mountain', and an orange cat named Bela, who strayed one day into the garden where mule deer rest during the sunlight hours.
