heh, heh, well, as pat said, these are only instances, there are many more. his taste did incline to the elitist, so they say, but he himself is really just a pennsylvania farm boy, and his wife a real pennsylvania gal, from all reports.

a greasy spoon says to me: humanity, diversity, warm substantial food, laughter - doesn't sound half bad to me! and i love chili!

Maybe the best thing to do to honor Stevens (farm-boy background and all) is to eat some nice home-made pie this week.

WS seems to have been one of those highly sensitive people, an aesthete, whose senses were so engaged with his environment that he couldn't really tell the difference sometimes between 'himself' and his environment. of course, the whole issue of 'self' is very interesting. Also, in ayurveda, a health system from ancient india, one is healthy when one is highly differentiated from one's environment. I'd be curious to know what kinds of problems this identity with the environment occasioned for Stevens.

Lemon meringue sounds great, but I have to watch my diabetes threshold! by the way, kasturi and karen are the same person - me!

Does anyone know much about Wallace Steven's supposed conversion to Catholicism on his deathbed? I would like to know more about this and any related poetic material, if possible.

It's nice to find a site on WS that's still being visited and updated - I really am beginning to appreciate his work. If you take requests, could we possibly discuss "Disillusionment of Ten O'Clock"? It's a favorite.

Auto DVD players are created to work with the 12-volt Direct Existing Negative Ground power system. Purchase a voltage inverter should your vehicle has an alternative system.
