This is one of the cards my husband gave me for my birthday. We love this field of lavender because it reminds us of the film Charlotte Grey, one of our favorites because it's such a well-crafted piece of art. And the story is good, very touching emotionally, etcetera. We also like this card because it reminds us of one anniversary we spend twenty years ago in a B&B in the middle of a daffodil farm. We arrived there and checked in after sunset, so when we woke up in the morning and looked out the window, we saw daffodils in bloom stretching out to the horizon in all directions!
That was nice. This year, our anniversary followed an emergency appendectomy, so we were a little subdued as we sat at the little table of a local restaurant up on a hillside, looking out at the sunset over San Francisco Bay. We didn't talk much. We just soaked in the rays of that glorious sun.
The emergency surgery brought us close enough to 'the edge' to give us plenty to think about. A real chance to appreciate more fully and richly our lives up til now.
