It's a terrible loss to our community that Jack Forbes died. I will always remember him reading poetry at an anti-war demonstration. I haven't read his book, though; I'll look out for it.

Oh, wow, so you actually have met him - I would love to hear more of your impressions of him. It seems as if no sooner do I discover a local native american writer with whom I can really relate, than I find out that person just died. The same thing happened for me with Paula Gunn Allen, who wrote so beautifully of the Algonquin traditions in her book about Pocahontas.

Say, how are things going? We never did get together to hike, did we...
